Brain numbing and dumb Rated 0.5/5 Stars •  Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/03/24 Full Review Charles D As others have said, there are plenty of investigators crafting their own videos containing often similar things- EMF detectors going off, objects moving, etc. But one must remember that in a documentary, this repetition and slowness is part and parcel of the genre because the documentary is limited to what occurs in the investigation, and that means a lot of waiting and watching for something to happen. What I particularly enjoyed about this movie was that production-wise they didn't resort to flashing special effects, campy re-enactments or cover up things with a barrage of supposedly scary sounds that are more of a distraction than an enhancement. And they show what they saw, not just talk about it. This puts The Haunting Lodge well above so many other shows that rely on production rather than just show what was experienced and let the story tell itself. The Whelptons are very likeable and their enthusiasm is often catchy. We were enthralled with them but then they got not so great until we came across The Haunting Lodge. WOW! SO INTERESTING! This lead us to watch Kendells other shows and they did NOT disappoint! Personally...I go to church, I DO believe in God and Heaven, Hell and Purgatory. I know that there are things about life that we don't know about yet. So......people with a true open mind... this will seriously grab. And not to sound mean but for the others, just watch something else. If you enjoy paranormal investigations that are constant talk fests, you may like this. If you prefer more filming and less "I feel goosebumps" running talk tracks, you'll think it's just ok.
