Mandy S I don't usually give horror films such a low score but this one is beyond horrible and not in a good way. The acting is awful it's like their doing a table reading and the ghosts aren't in the least bit scary. It's over an hour of my life I will never get back. This is what all movies will be like if the Hollywood strike doesn't make a difference. Hammy acting doesn't even begin to describe it - it's pure joy to watch. The only thing that would improve the performances would be an audience participation button to say things like "oh no it isn't", "behind you!", etc etc. The writing is...oh, so bad...I take comfort that they may in fact be making a satire. Please say it is. Please say it's intentional... If The League of Gentlemen had a baby with Midsomer Murders it would be this movie. Tasty Treat: a flashback sequence shot in black and white with Moonlight Sonata playing. If Days of Our Lives were set in a draughty old castle this is what it would look like. The crazy mother (there's always a crazy mother) is magnificent: Mrs Danvers called, she wants her icy stare into the distance while wielding a knife back. This is a movie you can watch completely mashed off your face AND stone cold sober!!! Alternatively, you could play a game of have a drink when a horror movie trope crops up. Weak, predictable script, again not good. No scares as you can see what the ghosts are going to do from a mile away. Then ending, again predictable and corny.
