Bradley Gibson Film Threat Matula delivers a dynamic film by combining up-close hand-held camera work with the sophisticated technical stagecraft of the sets. Rated: 8/10 Sep 6, 2023 Full Review Rachel Wagner rachelsreviews.net I was moved to tears several times especially in the second act as Nan Arnold Gurley beautifully captures Corrie and her struggle to survive Rated: 7/10 Jul 30, 2023 Full Review Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com While The Hiding Place undeniably looks and feels like the stage adaptation that it is, this is a riveting adaptation beautifully brought to life by the iconic Nan Gurley as Corrie Ten Boom. Mona Very well done - in telling the story. The first part was rather slow in developing the story line - would have been better sharing more of Betsy's and Corrie's story in the prison. The timeless story of God's love and forgiveness was powerful and could have been expanded more. Overall so glad to see the story on the "stage" Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/15/23 Full Review Nathaniel Miller Excellent adaptation, acting, and stagecraft. Very convicting. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/15/23 Full Review Tena I thought it was interesting as a play. Very different. For me, the play caused me to get teary eyed or cry in several places. I think that is what makes a good play/movie—if it moves you emotionally. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/10/23 Full Review Brett What a touching and inspiring story about such a terrible time in history! Gurly and Tillis were phenomenal!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/08/23 Full Review Gwendolyn M When a true story of such intensity comes to the stage, one wonders if it can be adequately represented. The author, choreographer, music director and lighting producer used their communal gifts in tandem to suggest rather than portray the most horrific moments. For those who don't know, Corrie ten Boom was a Dutch Christian imprisoned in a German concentration camp at Ravensbruck for saving Jewish lives. The stage play performed in Nashville in 2022 was so compelling and the storytelling so strong that a performance was filmed and found distribution in a number of cities across the Southeast. Such attention is well deserved and will soon result in wider distribution. Don't miss it when it comes to your town. Nan Gurley has given the performance of a lifetime in the role of Corrie. Her supporting cast, which includes her brother, Chip Arnold, does a masterful job of representing the world in which she accepted the challenge to grow and trust and risk and endure. She and her family saved more than 800 Jewish lives and she herself lived on for decades as a witness of that horrific era in German history. They were recognized with the highest Jewish distinction as "righteous Gentiles" for their sacrifice. Watch for "The Hiding Place" in a theater near you. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/08/23 Full Review TERRY The fact that it was a true account of what happened throughout Europe during world war II and the unique way it was presented as a movie was very interesting and educational...I love movies that present historical facts and situations...Oppenheimer was one of the best films I've seen and I have seen many over my 87 yrs!
