isla s If there's one word to sum up this film it would be quirky. Having read a brief synopsis of it, I assumed it would turn into some sort of CGI filled fantasy but instead its all set in 'the real world', well the fabled land of Hollywood anyway, however 'real' you may call that is another thing entirely. It has the feel of an indie low(ish) budget film and at first some of the characters seemed quite irritating, one of which being someone who spoke back about any and everything and who swore pretty much all of the time. It felt rather bland and forced and I was unsure about the real plot direction but by the end, I admit I had warmed to it more. I liked the fact its understated (although perhaps it could do with being a little less so), in terms of the underdog aspect of the main story. I felt I could agree with some of the frustrations felt by people depicted in the film. There are some cheesy cliches present and it wasn't an especially engrossing film but its alright. I imagine this would mostly appeal to people who are suspicious or cynical about the land that is Hollywood. Overall, I'd say this is an ok watch but I wouldn't go out of your way, or certainly I wouldn't pay much, to see it as such, so I can't expressly recommend it.
