Joel Harley Starburst The Horde is fun, but, just as the whole school trip is taken over and undermined by a bulky dick who does more teaching than his teacher girlfriend (because Macho), it tends to be bullied into submission by its own worst inclinations. Audience Member This movie is bad, bad-bad, but in a Hilariously Comical way that makes it enjoyable for a free streamer. It's just as the description, a Navy Seal kicks butt against hillbillies! What's there not to find funny about this idea, except how horrific some gorey scenes are and how brutally they treat women and these kids? Well, that is actually the main Problem with this film. If it was just about killing hillbillies in the woods, it would be easily a 4-5 star bad-movie Comedy, similar to Scary Movie or Tucker & Dale vs. Evil, both great comedies, But this movie tries to be Dead serious with the kids, while this Navy Seal goes around hilariously slaughtering these crazy hillbilly-maniacs, and it does Not blend. Half the time, you want to laugh, and the Other half of the time you want to puke at how abhorrent the imagery is here, and I mean it's disgusting sometimes. This film just didn't know What it wanted to be. Did it want to be a Rambo film? Did it want to be a Hellraiser film? did it want to be a Forest Psycho comedy? Who knows, because almost this whole movie my face looked like the comedy/tragedy faces scene-by-scene, and it just Didn't work. If these kids were just being held for random, with a few scenes of sprinkled "gun in your face be quiet!" scenes, then it would be a Great comedy, but instead these kids get Eviscerated, and it is Bad, while this guy goes around with akimbo throwing knives and snapping necks which is very amusing. Bad movie executed Badly, but because of how funny it was seeing this guy snapping necks and cashing checks on these crazy hillbillies I give it a higher-than-normal score. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Paul Logan wrote, starred & kicked some serious butt in The Horde.I will watch any Action, Horror, Drama that he's a part of.I guess what I'm trying to say is that any movie that Paul Logan is cast in, I will be watching.Well every movie except A Doggone Christmas, A Doggone Mystery, A Doggone Hollywood or any of the Doggone movies coming out. Those I have absolutely NO interest in watching. This is the 1st time I've ever heard of Paul Logan & I'm a fan of his because of The Horde. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member This Movie Was Awesome Hills Have Eye/Wrong Turn Meets Rambo IMO! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/11/23 Full Review Audience Member It appears to be the be first script that Paul Logan has written, which probably explains the excessive martial art fighting scenes involving himself and opportunities to take off his top! haha The horde was obviously made on a pretty small budget and considering this, I don't want to slam it too much. The movie as a whole is kind of weird mash up of Rambo, Universal Soldier and perhaps a pinch of Deliverance meets House of 1000 Corpses? As an intended horror, I don't think its particularly scary in any way but its got some good gore factor in there for you in that's your thing. The teacher to student talk about being a virgin was an obvious set up for a B movie unneeded gang rape which was pretty cringe worthy and I guess in place for the lack of frights to this movie. The story itself is pretty shaky and doesn't really develop past being in the woods and in danger. The direction of the stereotypical characters in scenes is not the best nor is the explanation for these weird people being in the woods doing what their doing in the first place. However, the whole point of this film is obviously to get to the kicking arse part of the movie where the Rambo type character of John Crenshaw gets to descend on the town, does his arse kicking and attempt to rescue his group. I would say that on a budget the SFX are actually pretty good surprisingly. It was worth a watch in short but it wont need a second viewing. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member Fun "horror meets action/marital arts" flick. Horror fans will love the gory stuff, martial arts fans will not walk away doubting the skill of the fighters, especially actor/writer/producer Paul Logan. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member The Horde has become one of my favorite movies. I like it because it has straight forward action and most of it left me thinking about the characters and situations long after the movie was over and it sparked my own creative curiosity about what happens next. How did the events impact the lives of the characters when the adrenaline rush of 'fight or die' is over. I'd love to see a sequel and where it goes from there and tumbles into more action. I am very particular about what I look for in an action or a horror movie, which may come as surprise to those who know about my love for cheesy Scifi Creature Feature movies and such. But I am. A movie must have good action, car chases, fight sequences and a good reason to root for the hero of the story and there must be an intriguing element to it all. Also, anyone who knows me well, knows that Chuck Norris is the standard to which I hold all martial arts style action stars. Paul Logan meets that standard in ?The Horde?. He is not 'artsy', he creates a character that is a street fighter style action hero who brawls his way through the fight scenes with power. Yet, can show a gentle side to his character of John Crenshaw and how the character is attempting to live a normal life after being a soldier for so long yet he isn't quite comfortable in that skin yet.
