Paul Byrnes Sydney Morning Herald It's an admirably restrained film, even in the violence. Don't misunderstand: things get very rough, but not in every scene, and not until necessary. David W A beautiful, subtle, slow-burn love story from one of France's master storytellers, here in another rich period setting, not unlike Rappeneau's wonderful Cyrano de Bergerac. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review anne c I got a strong sense of " deja vu " while enjoying this great movie on the Grand Rex main screen in 1995. I do not remember the script but I recall the beautiful landscaps shot in the Highlands of Provence and the French antique roof tiles in Salernes. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Kind of difficult to take this story of romance seriously when there's absolutely No chemistry between the 2 lead actors! If they were any stiffer I could build a deck with them! Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member foreign french period film; great acting and real story-line.
