David W A beautiful, subtle, slow-burn love story from one of France's master storytellers, here in another rich period setting, not unlike Rappeneau's wonderful Cyrano de Bergerac. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Loved everything about this film - the characters, the actors, the scenery, the exciting story and fascinating history - it was wonderful! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member It is just incredible... what more do you want from a film? Fall in love with it all ...'Le choléra m'évite comme la peste.' Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Kind of difficult to take this story of romance seriously when there's absolutely No chemistry between the 2 lead actors! If they were any stiffer I could build a deck with them! Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member foreign french period film; great acting and real story-line. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member Billed as the most expensive French movie back then, this swashbuckling romance has grand and grander scenes but can run quite low on emotional impact.
