Critics Consensus

The Hurricane Heist is a throwback to the overblown action thrillers of yesteryear -- and a thoroughly middling example of why they don't make 'em like this anymore.

Tara Brady Irish Times Rob Cohen [...] can surely do better than the terrible CGI, unconvincing tax-break landscapes [...], and wince-making dialogue [...] on display here. Rated: 2/5 Apr 6, 2018 Full Review Peter Bradshaw Guardian All entirely but watchably absurd, and Kebbell himself carries it off with some style and shows he's got exactly the right leading-man chops. Rated: 3/5 Apr 6, 2018 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies ...the story is so silly and inconsequential, functioning mostly to move from one weather-action scene to the next. Rated: 1.5/4 Aug 11, 2021 Full Review Matt Cipolla Film Monthly The cheapness is neither enraging or endearing, and the film as a whole is just an eyesore that, if anything, lessens the blow of whatever absurdity occurs from time to time. Audience Member A disaster movie in three senses, the flat plot, the pathetic acting and the embarassing direction. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/25/24 Full Review Elle S I'm not sure if the writers know what a hurricane even is? Because they seem to think it's a giant tornado. And no amount of the crummy acting, script, and the distracting color grading could get me invested back into the film. 1 star for drinking game efficacy. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/28/24 Full Review Indriði V Its one of those movies that I can recomend to everybody. Dont ask me why .. Just watch it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/27/24 Full Review Test T I watched this on DVD recently. It's much better than the reviews would have you believe. It's well made with decent acting, special effects, and soundtrack. The story's pretty good too, but reminded me of other similar films. The main problem is a hurricane is hardly the ideal weather for filming, so the film is predictably grey and wet. Perhaps one day we'll get a "Heatwave Heist" movie with nice sunny scenes? Back to this, there's nothing to dislike really, and it deserves a recommendation. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/01/24 Full Review Steve D Big dumb and not especially fun. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 11/05/23 Full Review Stuart T If you like disaster style movies with a twist you will like this, good action and enjoyable Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/29/23 Full Review Read all reviews
