Critics Consensus

The Incredible Hulk may not be quite the smashing success that fans of Marvel's raging behemoth might hope for, but it offers more than enough big green action to make up for its occasionally puny narrative.

Tom Charity CNN.com The climax is a bit of a yawn, but most of what precedes it is vigorous and sharp. Apr 14, 2013 Full Review Joshua Rothkopf Time Out Chicago Norton makes for a wiry, curious Bruce Banner. But you can tell from the film's tedium-inducing smackdowns that a different philosophy prevailed: the artificial Zen of video-game playing. Rated: 3/5 May 4, 2012 Full Review Wally Hammond Time Out A more satisfactory adaptation of the spirit of Stan Lee's Marvel character. Rated: 3/5 Nov 18, 2011 Full Review Lane Mills InSession Film That rings true of the entire movie. Jagged edges, cut corners, missed opportunities, yet somehow still charming and, in the end, workable. Rated: B- Mar 5, 2025 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review The film takes the necessary steps to balance action and drama, making each of Hulk’s battles significant for Banner and his continuing growth. Rated: 3.5/4 Feb 13, 2025 Full Review Christopher Lloyd The Film Yap The "forgotten" MCU feature is now available on Disney+, and it remains an interesting if flawed vehicle for Edward Norton that might have taken the Avengers saga in a very different direction. Gi S One of my fave comic book characters growing up. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 07/17/25 Full Review Gareth v Okay. A franchise that has really struggled to produce a decent movie, but this is probably the pick of the lot. Not that it's great, it's just because what has come before this has been underwhelming. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/12/25 Full Review Mitch B A hauntingly beautiful movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/10/25 Full Review tim s The Hulk is pure, absolute rage and raw strength, which is an adrenaline rush to behold. The sheer power this version of the Hulk exudes is astounding. Though the script is a bit light on substance, the massive beatdowns that the titular character gives and takes are mind-melting. In addition, Hulk retains a bit of Bruce Banner's humanity, especially in his interactions with the love interest. This touch makes the big guy more than just a mindless force. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/10/25 Full Review Andrew B Pretty solid movie. Anytime there was action, it was pretty good. Anytime there was not action it was kinda boring. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/09/25 Full Review Alex L Everything except the fight scenes were kind of boring. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/06/25 Full Review Read all reviews
