Audience Member It’s been 20 years and this is one of PIXAR’s best This was before a franchise was born and before a built-in audience The first film to star human characters being from handrawn beginnings thanks to director Brad Bird Thankfully this managed to better his career after Iron Giant failed to gain traction at the box office Some might even call this the pre-Fantastic Four before the actual Marvel comics movie adaptations Yet it has the core values of a superhero family not just a team up The family dynamic; the camaraderie, the resilience, the glue that holds them together This also focuses on issues like mid-life crisis, career and family imbalance, not standing out or standing out enough Voice actors include Craig T. Nelson, Helen Hunt, Jason Leigh, and Samuel L. Jackson to name a few The story centers on a world where superheroes exist and were at the height of their careers But reality sets in when Mr. Incredible ends up getting sued by a citizen who didn’t want to be saved The cycle continues as all the other costumes heroes are eventually faded into obscurity and the government outlaws them from intervening Cut to many years later Bob Parr is retired as Mr. Incredible now married to Helen aka Elastic Girl with three kids; Dash, Violet, and Jack Jack It’s hard too for the children to be forced to hide their powers Bob misses his hero past and gets a chance to relive the glory days thanks to a woman named Mirage Bob ends up on an island face to face with a former fan of his named Buddy now named Syndrome He plans to pretend to be a superhero making everyone else obsolete The movie has really appealing designs, a terrific old school score by Michael Giacchino reminiscent of a James Bond flick, terrific voice actors, incredible action, and a retro 1960s vibe Helen is loving and mature but resents her husband refusing to move on, Violet is kind but shy and timid, and Dash is quick but impulsive and overly excited Syndrome is a very memorable villain giving an understanding of how he resorted to it Very funny too with the Edna character pointing out the downsides to superhero costumes heck even heroes themselves feel very subconscious in certain outfits The final act is the best set piece in this It’s great commentary for these characters hiding who they are and what makes them special It’s relevant too there are different battles being fought by smaller individuals yet we have to choose which battles to engage in Is it true we can’t count on anyone especially our heroes?, is reliving the glory days better than acting like they didn’t happen?, is the world better for having just one superhero as opposed to many? Bob gets the wheels going learning to let his family more into his world appreciating values not just his own Plus it helps make the other relatives very endearing learning to come together as a whole ‘Incredibles’ works being an amazing combination of espionage thrillers, spies, heroes, villain lairs, and adjusting to normal life after superhero life It truly acts as a love letter to the golden age and silver comics age of heroes The film was a major success that it spawned a sequel 14 years later next to video games and Lego sets Yet it retains such rewatchability thanks to its stellar creativity and originality not being based on any source material If anyone feels fatigue from the massive wave of superhero films in the DCEU or the MCU this serves as a great diversion when IP brands seem more like profit making rather than bringing new concepts to the forefront Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/06/24 Full Review Savannah G Love this movie! Loved it when it came out and love rewatching it every time! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/30/24 Full Review Shaked G This movie is one of the best Pixar movies ever made. That ded not surprised me. The plot is great, and too the characters. it's not funny but its steel amazing.I will say too that the animation is not very good but i can sorry about it because the movie is from 2004. I don't know what to say mors so just watch it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/27/24 Full Review Audience Member [SPOILERS AHEAD]. This is easily the best movie ever made. I watched it a million times even and even though its 20 years old it holds up really well. Last time i watched it was like 8 years ago but i still remember everything because every scene is just perfect. It does everything in its original way, for example syndrome doesn't say anything like “I will destroy the world” or something like that like most villains in a kids movie. Except for that we have got we of the best scenes in this movie where mr.incredible discovers syndrome’s plan while checking on his “computer”. What I think makes this scene perfect is how they managed to show the message they wanted to show without even a single word, its just music and pictures of superheroes being crossed out. And if someone still doesn’t understand, the screen showed a picture of mr.incredible being crossed out. Why does it explain that heroes who were crossed out are dead? In the previous scene syndromes drone scans a cave where mr. Incredible is hiding, then it returns to him and says “no alive targets left” or something like that (sorry i watched the polish version i don't know what it says in english) so you can now connect the dots and you know whats going on. I think that the fact that in the “Kronos unveiled” scene no one says anything makes it more mature. I could talk about this movie for long hours but I will show one last example of a perfect scene from this movie. In the beginning after the intro scene we see elasta girl being called to the principal’s office because max put drawing pin on the teachers chair. As a proof, the teachers shows a video, but max is so fast that we can barely see him move. In the next scene we see violet turning invisible so her crush won’t see her. And finally in the family dinner scene we see max using his speed and violet turning invisible and making a force field to stop Max. This is how in a natural way we get to know what violets and maxs powers are. So, in a few words, the incredibles is pure perfection a must see, and great fun for the whole family (even for 4 year old!) Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/27/24 Full Review Amy P One of the best Pixar films... we still use quotes from this movie in our daily life and it appeals to both kids and adults. We love it! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/23/24 Full Review Nick R This may just be a perfect superhero movie that calls out every aspect of superhero fandom, toxic fans, superhero politics and responsibilities, and the intricate family structures of it all. Basically it did everything that Marvel and DC are still falling short of today. On top of that the voice acting, animation, action, and writing are all on display in peak Pixar form.
