THE INDEPENDENTS is a musical comedy/drama about three solo-artists who collide at the same crossroads and discover harmony. Thus is born "RGB" (at least until they come up with a better band name) and what follows is their roller-coaster-ride journey across America for a one last shot at musical glory.

Noel Murray Los Angeles Times "The Independents" is a wisp of a movie, generally likable but largely insubstantial. But when Price, Naughton and Chartrand start to play? The film becomes a warm and welcoming celebration of music for music's sake. Feb 27, 2021 Full Review Stephen Farber The Hollywood Reporter The songs are smoothly integrated into the story, but the film's main virtue is the warmth it shows toward the three main characters and their sometimes desperate dreams. Feb 9, 2018 Full Review Julia Swift My Champlain Valley The uplifting movie we all need right now. Let yourself be carried away by the music that will make you get up off your couch with a smile, ready to believe in the goodness of people again. Just don't look too closely at the craft elements. Rated: 6 Mar 29, 2021 Full Review Bobby LePire Film Threat While the full-blown comedic moments do not work, The Independents is an engaging movie with a strong cast and absolutely amazing songs. Rated: 7.5/10 Mar 8, 2021 Full Review Dennis Harvey 48 Hills The Independents is pleasant and innocuous, making fun of overnight-success conventions while at the same time not straying very far from them. Mar 5, 2021 Full Review Aaron Neuwirth We Live Entertainment There's something quite honest about it all, which blends well with the movie's hangout vibe. Jay D I LOVE this film. As a former touring musician, this hits home in so many ways. The story, the humor, the emotions, the ups and downs, the characters. It is so well done and the music is just beautiful. The song “Spark” from this film was actually my wedding song! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/10/24 Full Review James W Excellent movie, outstanding band! I have enjoyed watching the performers live and I thought their artistic creativity with the movie (and their music, individually and collectively) was absolutely outstanding!!! I gave five stars, I would give ten stars if it was offered!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/27/24 Full Review Linda M This movie was a delight to watch from start to finish. It was funny yet relatable in a deep way. Talented acting and most of all, wonderful music! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/09/24 Full Review Audience Member Much like any modern movie about music they make it seem like song writing or being a musician is all about ambition. The fact is, there's very little money and HUGE amounts of work to be a musician. Nobody can just sit down and harmonize / write songs like in this movie. That said, I enjoyed the story and it was neat to find out that they are actually a real band. I just hate the message that it's ok to abandon a life you've worked really hard for, spent lots of money preparing for, just to go play a show in California. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member A delightful, unpretentious gem of a movie. Refreshes your soul and the soundtrack is great to boot. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member If you are up for a great story with foot tapping music, strong lyrics, guitar and keyboard play, refreshing genuine acting, plenty of laughs and a few tugs on your heartstrings, then this is for you! We loved it and will soon be watching it again! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Read all reviews
