Architect Herbert Rowland (Olaf Fønss) is a man of great confidence, knowing he could design a grand structure if given the chance. And that opportunity is finally provided by Maharajah Ayan (Conrad Veidt), who charters Rowland to build a tomb for his wife, Savitri (Erna Morena). Problem is, the unfaithful woman is still alive, but the crazed Ayan plans to bury her anyway. When Rowland, along with fiancée Irene (Mia May), get involved in the intrigue, they find themselves in grave danger.
