Jeffrey M. Anderson Common Sense Media This spending-the-night-in-a-creepy-mansion horror thriller falls resoundingly flat due to its one-note characters, forced plot twists, and absurd behavior of the most ridiculously clichéd nature. Rated: 2/5 Sep 1, 2024 Full Review Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews The intriguing premise never reaches its potential. Rated: C Jul 22, 2024 Full Review Aaron Neuwirth We Live Entertainment Director Alejandro Brugués tries to get mileage out of the house and his more screen-ready stars (Gunton, Peyton List, Briana Middleton, David Walton), but there’s a real blandness that comes from both limited means and a lack of imagination. Rated: 4/10 Jul 18, 2024 Full Review Joe Lipsett Bloody Disgusting The Inheritance has a pervasive “half-way there” vibe throughout. For every element that works, there’s another that doesn’t and the film ultimately plays like a paint by numbers pastiche of other (often better) horror films. Rated: 3/5 Jul 16, 2024 Full Review Frank Swietek One Guy's Opinion While there’s considerable stylishness on display here, and it’s nice to see Gunton play a larger role than usual, this is a horror thriller that ultimately unravels disappointingly. Rated: C- Jul 15, 2024 Full Review Ferdosa Abdi Screen Rant Despite its derivative nature, The Inheritance could have been very enjoyable if the script was stronger. Lomax L The plot was unique, the acting was good, the script was somewhat predictable, overall it was okay. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/05/24 Full Review Michael P Could have been good. Whoever gave David Walton a chance at being a actor should be fired. The dudes obnoxiousness ruined most of the movie and for some reason it seemed like every body was mimicking him from time to time. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 08/14/24 Full Review Gal H A terrible movie, really everything about it is just bad. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 08/10/24 Full Review Shields F A different take on The House of Usher, but with shoddy execution. It has moments that are interesting, and make you feel as if watching was almost worth it. The movie ultimately falls short and offers a mediocre to slightly entertaining experience. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 08/09/24 Full Review Barton D Some predictable areas of the film but entertaining. That is what I look for in a film entertainment. If you are looking for a film to ease yourself into thrillers this would be a good one. Some scares but nothing crazy. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/05/24 Full Review Dan R 2024's 'The Inheritance' treads a lot of old ground and not in a good way unfortunately. SYNOPSIS: 'A billionaire on the eve of his 75th birthday, invites his estranged children back home out of fear that tonight someone or something is going to kill him. He puts each of their inheritances on the line, to make sure they'll help.' This film may as well not exist as it's so bland and boring, whilst taking a tried old concept and just repeating so many tropes which just aren't scary anymore. It's not terrible but it’s merely a paint by numbers generational survival horror. Something I've certainly had enough of. It also treats the viewer as an idiot with endless explanations of what's going and, eventually, the most obvious ending possible. Horror this is not. 4/10 Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/03/24 Full Review Read all reviews
