‘The Inheritance’ shows a level of promise upon which it never fully delivers. Go to Full Review

This spending-the-night-in-a-creepy-mansion horror thriller falls resoundingly flat due to its one-note characters, forced plot twists, and absurd behavior of the most ridiculously clichéd nature. Go to Full Review

Director Alejandro Brugués tries to get mileage out of the house and his more screen-ready stars (Gunton, Peyton List, Briana Middleton, David Walton), but there’s a real blandness that comes from both limited means and a lack of imagination. Go to Full Review

The Inheritance has a pervasive “half-way there” vibe throughout. For every element that works, there’s another that doesn’t and the film ultimately plays like a paint by numbers pastiche of other (often better) horror films. Go to Full Review

While there’s considerable stylishness on display here, and it’s nice to see Gunton play a larger role than usual, this is a horror thriller that ultimately unravels disappointingly. Go to Full Review

Dan D Nov 14 A putrid made-for-the-CW looking affair. Not one original thought in this script. See more Martin S Aug 19 Staring at a wall for an hour and a half is more interesting than this movie. See more Elisha I Jun 20 Misses the mark entirely, delivering a dull and poorly executed story with underdeveloped characters and awkward pacing. It fails to create any meaningful tension or emotional engagement, making it hard to recommend. See more Mar 21 The movie is so dumb with very bad acting See more Sarfaraz A Feb 12 Starring Peyton List. The film follows four affluent siblings (two brothers and two sisters) who are invited at their father's estate on his birthday. Who tells them that his life is in danger and that he must spend the entire night confined inside the freshly fortified residence. If he survives the night, his wealth will be divided among his siblings; otherwise, it will be donated to charity. The role of an African-American is shown as if she is suffering from racial hatred, while in reality it is her social class status in comparison to an upper-class family. The acting is below-average. The siblings who profess later to love their young sister, who died mysteriously, exhibit no shock or sadness and act as if they were prepared for this mayhem, rather than for their papa's birthday. Some mistakes were also obvious. It's just watchable, but it's not a shame to skip it entirely. See more Scott B @sburke802 Feb 8 Acting not so great. Storyline was sketchy and all over the board.
