Audience Member According to the program notes, this was a breakthrough for the Western in its length and in using actual Sioux to play the Indians. There is an amazing "staging in depth" shot with action going on in the foreground and a mile away. The DVD presentation is excellent with MacDowell's From an Indian Lodge incorporated into the score and an interesting commentary by a U. Oregon professor in American Indian law.
