Betsy Sharkey Los Angeles Times An absorbing new documentary that delves into the Lithuanian resistance against Soviet aggression and occupation circa 1944. Nov 20, 2014 Full Review Ben Sachs Chicago Reader Directors Jonas Ohman and Vincas Sruoginis deliver a worthwhile history lesson, along with some compelling tales of espionage and wartime romance. Nov 13, 2014 Full Review Neil Genzlinger New York Times This film, somewhat clumsy yet full of illuminating interviews, seems mostly like an exercise in building national pride, but it holds lessons for anyone trying to resist an overwhelming force. Nov 6, 2014 Full Review Dann Gire Chicago Daily Herald Once it gets going, The Invisible Front slaps us in the face with just how savagely the Soviets treated Lithuanians they believed to be part of the resistance Rated: 3/4 Nov 13, 2014 Full Review Simi Horwitz Film Journal International [The Invisible Front's] sharp storytelling, editing and fast-paced direction make it riveting and immediate. Audience Member I TOTALLY want to see this film. I am a Lithuanian-American whose parents had to flee Soviet occupied Lithuania to escape certain forced deportation to Siberia. This movie is the story of the Lithuanian Forest Brothers who fought, as insurgents, the Russian occupation of their native Lithuania. They were courageously brave patriots passionately fighting their homeland's independence. This film is their TRUE story too long kept from the eyes of Westerners some even sympathetic to the Communist (or now pro-Putinist) cause NOT knowing the murderers they were/are actually supporting.
