It didn't take a genius to see that television was finally poised to win the war against movies. I just didn't expect my teacher to be leading the charge against theatrical exhibition. Go to Full Review

The Irishman is a much more deliberate and weighty gangster film - by comparison, Goodfellas is a riot. But it's a vibe that works in its gravitas. Go to Full Review

The affecting, ruminative finale and the melancholic last scene leaves a metaphorical door ajar in our hearts, a deep hollow that's hard to fill... Go to Full Review

The Irishman...is a culmination of both Scorsese and Netflix’s efforts — it’s an old-school studio epic made on a technologically revolutionary scale. Go to Full Review

As always with Scorsese, the editing is crisp, the cars and clothes are ideal, and there’s absorbing scenes; the needle-drops are always on point. But the length of The Irishman is hellish and self-defeating, and the digital de-aging is a distraction... Go to Full Review

Andrew Mar 16 Great storytelling! Masterpiece…. See more DONALD H 02/12/2020 Great return to form from Scoresese See more 02/06/2020 Just before the Oscars I got the opportunity to watch this 10 times nominee on the big screen. At 3:29 hours, it is loooong! Not a real problem, though, since it was shot for Netflix with only limited theatrical release, so very few people had to sit through it in a theater. Most of the acting is great, as are the visual effects of aging / younging (?) the numerous well known actors over the story that spanned several decades. The story is the film's biggest flaw, though: there was no build-up, no climax, just year after year after year, dying down in the end. Best picture? Not even remotely, with Joker, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and Little Women in the mix. See more Wendy B 02/04/2020 Good movie, interesting story, but way too long See more JDSC 02/04/2020 The movie was good, as was the acting. However, the same story could have been told in half the time. It was way too long. See more Michael M 01/25/2020 Classic Scorsese! Di Niro and Pacino command the movie like they always have throughout their career. I just wish it wasn't such a long movie. After 3 hours I was wearing down. See more Read all reviews
