Who would have thought one of the most notorious jewel thieves in the world hails from Winnipeg? The Jewel Thief What’s most interesting is that Blanchard has intelligence and mad skills, but lacks personality. There may be no there there.

[Blanchard] has a tendency to embellish his stories... Ultimately, though, having such an unreliable subject isn’t a handicap — it’s a blessing, giving the documentary a winkingly ludicrous edge that helps it stand out in an overstuffed genre.

Boring. It also seemed that some of the players were only allowed to participate if they agreed to continue saying he was so brilliant, call him a mastermind, stroke his ego, etc. After awhile I couldn't take it anymore. Didn't even make it halfway through.

Way to turn what could be an exciting nail-biting, twist-and-turn tale into a boring wake-me-up-when-it's-over film. The main character and subject has all the charm of a doornail but still the story telling and re-enactments could have been helped. I struggled to get through it and found myself not caring how the story ends. A total disappointment.
