Nathan J. @NathanDirector Feb 22 Rating: 6.7/10 ⭐️ I clicked out of curiosity to see a Japanese/Saudi take on ancient religious history, and was genuinely surprised by the epic battles and heavy thematic weight. The Director’s Eye: Shizuno blends 2D anime with 3D environments to give massive armies a cinematic feel. The warm palette makes the desert incredibly authentic. The themes—unwavering religious devotion, duty to family, and defending your homeland—are incredibly powerful. It proves courage rooted in faith is a universal language. The score mixes Middle Eastern instruments with high-stakes anime anthems perfectly. The Cuts: The pacing gets totally bogged down by constant flashbacks right when the siege gets intense. Also, the 3D CGI on background soldiers and elephants looked super clunky, like a mid-2000s video game. Verdict: A visually unique, faith-driven epic.
