      Critics Consensus

As lovely to behold as it is engrossing to watch, The Jungle Book is the rare remake that actually improves upon its predecessors -- all while setting a new standard for CGI.

Platty the Perrypus W As the live action remakes typically go, this one is surprisingly just kind of ok Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/06/24 Full Review Reagan K A remake is rarely better than the original, the "almost" part is because of this movie. The actors are very good, and the CGI is better. The only half-scary scene is when (spoiler) Sher Kahn kills Akela, but even that isn't scary. It is a must-see for Disney lovers. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/28/24 Full Review Ravi T Ok this is my 2nd time watching this and idk...maybe it's just me but I LOVE this movie! It's very entertaining, has a great story, and is just fun to watch! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/09/24 Full Review Teddy B It's definitely an improvement over the original in terms of story, choosing to adapt the Rudyard Kipling original more (just a bit) faithfully. The direction is competent but ultimately doesn't work for me due to its conflicted tones and bizarre character moments. What I feel this film lacks is a sense of confidence in what it wants to be. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/20/24 Full Review Timothy D This version of The Jungle Book lands on its feet with a solid story and seamless visuals. The voice cast and shining young Sethi breath magic into the familiar story. The directing of this movie is stellar. Shere Khan's portrayal was impressively chilling and added a powerful (but controlled) dark element to the film. Overall, this film was very enjoyable and, most importantly, kept its imaginative heart. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/24 Full Review Dakota H This movie is absolutely amazing. The cast is great, the visuals were great, and the story follows the book more closely, which I love. Hands down the best live action adaptation of them all. 🙌 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/29/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Angie Han Slashfilm A must-see spectacle. Rated: 8/10 Jun 14, 2017 Full Review Claudia Puig The Asahi Shimbun GLOBE (Japan) It's the very rare remake that's actually better than the original. The Jungle Book is that rarity. [Full review in Japanese] Rated: 3.5/4 Dec 19, 2016 Full Review Dwight Brown National Newspaper Publishers Association Debates will rage about this kids pic's place in film history. Is it the best, or one of the best? That's the kind of a conversation that will thrill the team behind The Jungle Book. Nov 8, 2016 Full Review Rachel Wagner rachelsreviews.net But for a visual experience and for something new I definitely recommend seeing Jungle Book. I think you will really enjoy it. Rated: B+ Oct 27, 2023 Full Review Sean Axmaker Stream on Demand ... offers far more than the bare necessities as it combines Kipling's stories and Walt Disney's 1967 animated musical adaptation for a marvelous new version of the classic story of a boy quite literally raised by wolves. Sep 22, 2023 Full Review Don Shanahan Every Movie Has a Lesson Ferocity steps ahead of frolic and you might ask yourself how you feel about that when you watch "The Jungle Book."
