As lovely to behold as it is engrossing to watch, The Jungle Book is the rare remake that actually improves upon its predecessors -- all while setting a new standard for CGI.

The Jungle Book is that rarity. [Full review in Japanese] Rated: 3.5/4 Dec 19, 2016 Full Review Dwight Brown National Newspaper Publishers Association Debates will rage about this kids pic's place in film history. Is it the best, or one of the best? That's the kind of a conversation that will thrill the team behind The Jungle Book. Nov 8, 2016 Full Review Rachel Wagner rachelsreviews.net But for a visual experience and for something new I definitely recommend seeing Jungle Book. I think you will really enjoy it. Rated: B+ Oct 27, 2023 Full Review Sean Axmaker Stream on Demand ... offers far more than the bare necessities as it combines Kipling's stories and Walt Disney's 1967 animated musical adaptation for a marvelous new version of the classic story of a boy quite literally raised by wolves. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/28/24 Full Review Maria O Personally, I think it's even better than the original. Loved it. The suspense in some scenes too. The CGI has to be some of the best I've ever seen. it's incredible. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/19/24 Full Review Emily B Very good. A must see. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/09/24 Full Review Dale R A boy raised by wolves takes a walk through the jungle and happens upon animals with differing opinions on his well being. To the film's credit, it is wonderful to look at. Knowing that the only real thing we are looking at is Neel Sethi, who plays Mowgli, is truly a wonder for the time. All the animal characters look photo realistic. Casting Bill Murray as Baloo was a terrific idea. Ben Kingsley is great as Bagheera, Idris Elba plays a menacing Shere Khan and I love Scarlett Johansson’s take on Kaa. Now here is the problem: they tried to keep the musical aspect of the original animated feature. I love the music from the original, I believe the music made that movie great. But here it is gutted from its intended purpose and is only included for nostalgic reasons. Scarlett Johansson’s version of “Trust In Me” is great, but they only used it during the end credits because they needed her character to be an exposition dump. That is a terrible use of Johansson’s talent and the money they spent for her studio time to voice Kaa. I could rant about this film for quite awhile, but to sum up I think this film is only worth a watch if you’re interested in the technical animation achievement that it represents.
