Mike Hale New York Times It forgoes the crackling pace, light touch and surprisingly sophisticated sexual banter of the original, opting for melancholy, ominousness and sentimentality. Aug 16, 2013 Full Review David Wiegand San Francisco Chronicle The result is entertaining without either dethroning Hitchcock's 1938 film or embarrassing itself. Kathryn C The plot was not clear, about the rise of Nazis in Hungary and Germany, but the actors were superb, and made the movie compelling. The characters were well cast, and Tim Hughes was captivating. I enjoyed the movie, with all the twists and turns of a "who done it." The end was happy, too, which was a relief. Enjoy. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/28/24 Full Review Vernon O A piss poor adaptation of the classic Christie novel. It deviates badly from the novel and doesn't pull it off well. Compared to Hitchcock's brilliant film eight decades earlier which was made on a shoestring budget the creators of this dreary adaptation should hang their heads in shame. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/11/24 Full Review Steve D One of hitch's best Brit films but nothing great. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/09/24 Full Review Audience Member This was entertaining drama and I was pleasantly surprised at the change in the pace, it started a bit slow and then boom, lets gaslight this lady. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member Slow paced at 1st but all the pieces come together beautifully in the end. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member Saw the original and liked it but also liked this one a lot (it has a slightly different plot). Sparkling acting, and the two central actors have great chemistry. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Read all reviews
