Paul Mount Starburst Can be happily recommended for teenagers of a curious disposition. Rated: 5/10 Jun 15, 2020 Full Review Matt Smith Flickering Myth The Last Keepers is a film you need to meet halfway. If done so, it's an enjoyable, if short movie that tells the age-old story that growing up is hard. Rated: 3/5 Jun 15, 2020 Full Review John Noonan FILMINK (Australia) Despite its characters living in the woods and being in touch with the elements, The Last Keepers isn't particularly earthy and, at times, comes across as sterile in its delivery. Micki M A series of heartbreaking images the protagonist researches is meant to convince us that all of humanity’s ills come from… wait for it… global warming, er I mean climate change, whatever it’s called this decade. And somehow a prophecy about a child that looks like it walked off the set of “Flowers in the Attic” will save us. The visual beauty of this film can’t save the poor plot. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/03/24 Full Review Linda J A favorite, I am 66, and watch it often. It depicts a child raised by a kind, loving, witchy family. It is mystical, heartwarming, and touches the heart. It's for kids of all ages. The acting is superb, and every character is likeable. If you are a devout Christian, don't fear it. Enjoy it! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/03/24 Full Review Maggie M I thoroughly enjoy this movie and find myself returning to it frequently. The film boasts not only a captivating soundtrack and storyline but also features well-seasoned actors. Almost everything in this movie is impeccably crafted, except for the portrayal of the 'Blessed One,' who dons what appears to be a plastic blue dress and a less-than-ideal blonde wig for a purported 6-year-old child. I believe that if the same level of attention and dedication had been invested in the outfit of the 'Blessed One,' the movie would easily earn a 5-star rating. Even with the constraints of a modest budget, the depiction of magic is executed flawlessly. It strikes a delicate balance, avoiding excess while maintaining a charmingly mystical quality. The film authentically captures the essence of ancient Goddess traditions, a facet often overlooked in Hollywood's portrayal of magical themes as sinister. Instead, it offers a narrative filled with compassion, addressing contemporary issues of environmental degradation caused by humanity's disregard for the source of all life. The film also introduces an artistic dimension through the family's diverse pursuits—artists, farmers, metalworkers—juxtaposed with the ordinary struggles of a family navigating a small town rife with gossip. In a cinematic landscape saturated with overpowering superheroes, this movie provides a refreshing blend of teenage self-discovery, family dynamics, traditional values, art, and magical occurrences. I enthusiastically recommend this hidden gem, often feeling like I'm one of the few in the know. A sequel would be most welcome. The film also introduces an artistic dimension through the family's diverse pursuits—artists, farmers, metalworkers—juxtaposed with the ordinary struggles of a family navigating a small town rife with gossip. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/01/24 Full Review Audience Member First off, Zosia Mamet is not leading lady material. She's an ok actor but does not have the face to pull off this part. I know that's brutal but the truth. The story line could have been much stronger. Cant hold my attention. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member I loved it! It is a more accurate portrayal of witches. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a movie I watch non-stop. It's cute, quaint, and I love the actors. It has a nice coming of age story, I love the lines in the movie, and I recommend for anyone who loves art, magic, and teenagers trying to find their place in the world.
