While awaiting the next fuel truck at a middle-of-nowhere Arizona rest stop, a traveling young knife salesman is thrust into a high-stakes hostage situation by the arrival of two similarly stranded bank robbers with no qualms about using cruelty--or cold, hard steel--to protect their bloodstained, ill-begotten fortune.

Sergio Burstein Los Angeles Times In addition to obtaining outstanding performances from all his actors, the director demonstrates that he has extensive knowledge of the cinematographic language, and uses it to immerse us in its simple but ingenious story. [Full review in Spanish] May 25, 2024 Full Review Claudia Puig FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) A quirky, indie Neo-noir Western with a dash of Coen Brothers and a sprinkle of Tarantino. Darkly funny, well acted, and cleverly written. May 15, 2024 Full Review Matt Zoller Seitz RogerEbert.com "Last Stop in Yuma County" is the kind of movie where you root for the worst to happen, because every escalation of misfortune makes things more entertaining. Rated: 3/4 May 10, 2024 Full Review Katie Hogan FILMHOUNDS Magazine Yuma County is a slow-burn thriller, adding in elements along the way that keep the film simmering Rated: 3/5 Feb 13, 2025 Full Review Steve Morrissey Radio Times Like its marooned characters, the film runs a bit low on fuel towards the end, but by that point plenty of fun has been had. Rated: 3/5 Jan 30, 2025 Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy Ensemble pieces such as this run the risk of employing their characters as nothing more than pawns to be shuffled through the proceedings, but Galluppi and his well-chosen cast do a fine job of not only making these people believable but also interesting. 333.zerimar all the details were great! Reservoir Dogs vibes 😍 the way they shot it, the setting, the perspective, the style (Tarantino), just great Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/04/24 Full Review Hector good story, put together very well👍 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/16/24 Full Review Danny Z Pretty freaking good movie for not as much press given but surprisingly really good and left me thinking. definitely recommend Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/12/24 Full Review Geoff H What I loved about this film was the overall story telling. The director spent his time and money in the right place and took his cues from Pinter, Spielberg, tarrentino, Edward hopper, coen bros. Some beautiful touches eg using Gene Jones back in the lonely petrol station setting. ( he was in the amazing garage scene in no country for old men). The long pan shots beautifully timed to keep that approaching jeopardy theme pushing the scenes and the colourisation inside the hopperesk diner was a master class. The music transition with the fuel truck was sublime. And then we get given all the visual cues so we can put the plot together like; who has the guns? he's seen the phone! where are the keys? is just marvelous entertainment. To get comedy, tension, beauty, pathos, drama, jeopardy, character, neauance and sublty with baddies and goodies to that quality in one film is a joy. I thought of another ending but i guess that shows how involved i became. For a bebut film this team is one to watch because they are not newbies. They know exactly what they are doing. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/19/25 Full Review Debbra W Great performances and a gem of a movie! Found it suspenseful and amusing. Felt fresh Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/04/25 Full Review Simon C Film starts off slow and eventually stalls with not much happening until the final 15 mins. Set in a isolated diner/gas station with all characters seemingly unaware they need gas/petrol until having to stop at this last stop. Surprisingly for a last stop it's remarkably busy. This is a truly dull movie which eventually shows signs of life near the end and even then the ending is silly. Not recommended unless you want to throw 90 min of ur life away Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/25 Full Review Read all reviews
