What to Know

Critics Consensus

While it isn't quite as much fun as its predecessor, The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part fits neatly into an animated all-ages franchise with heart and humor to spare.

Caroline Siede The Spool All in all, The LEGO Movie 2 feels like more movie than the first one, which somehow winds up making it feel like less. Jan 18, 2020 Full Review Wenlei Ma News.com.au It's only really in the last 20 minutes of the film that it all comes together and you can appreciate what the movie is trying to say about working collaboratively and sharing something you love Rated: 3/5 Apr 21, 2019 Full Review Hanna Flint Time Out If you're willing to let the quantum mechanics slide, you'll have a pretty awesome time. Rated: 3/5 Apr 2, 2019 Full Review Calum Cooper Source (Scotland) It’s like being on a rollercoaster that you don’t want to get off of. Rated: 4/5 Jul 14, 2024 Full Review Ash Jefferson But Why Tho? A Geek Community The first film’s narrative was intrinsically tied with building things and creativity, ideas heavily associated with Lego. This just feels like a generic kids movie adventure that would work with or without the Legos. Rated: 4/10 Jan 22, 2023 Full Review Josh Parham Next Best Picture There are smart ideas being worked out here, but the direction doesn’t feel as if it utilizes them fully this time around. Anne Cute movie. Lots of energy. Girls and boys will like it Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/21/22 Full Review joy I liked that it had new people in the movie Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/18/22 Full Review Gregory #2 didn't compete with #1, but it was better than aweful. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/07/21 Full Review K G Although inferior to the predecessor, the second half of this duology is still as worthy as well. What happened in the 2014 ending meant another story coming after this had to happen but it would not if it was for Finn's sister. I think "The LEGO Batman Movie" & "The LEGO Movie" may still be in the same universe if we have Alfred the butler was with Batman. There were more funny & exciting new elements to it. We are introduced to Minidolls with cool hair pieces & skins, Ms Watevra Wa'Nabi who was made out of random bricks & they could change whenever she moved. We also meet another version of Emmet, Rex, who turned into a rebel after being neglected under a washing machine who even got his own machine that would be made for people aged 16+ & has dinosaurs with him (also voiced by Chris Pratt & a possible reference to "Jurassic Park"). Also, Lucy's hair was never black, she just used black sharpie all over it. The insane songs to it are important too to depict how malicious they think she is. But the truth is, she was not meant to be evil (she was the equivalent of Finn's sister). There was devastation because she & Finn did not get so along together. She & Duplo came there all because she just wanted to play with Finn & Emmet's world so it is about getting along together, playtime should be involving that. This was a way to end this franchise, it did not have to be a trilogy for this case. DazzReviews, why do you keep insulting 2nd movies? Not all of them are "TERRIBLE". Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/17/25 Full Review I Am F More Chris Pratt than Lego. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 09/10/25 Full Review Garrett P It's good but it's not as good the first one Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/30/25 Full Review Read all reviews
