Too stupid to be the hard-hitting drama it was first sold as and too self-important to be the black comedy it really should be, Sud's film is a master class in bad decision-making, improbable choices, and overwrought acting. Go to Full Review

Still, after roughly 90 minutes of unbelievable behavior and botched suspense, the twist ending is too audaciously ridiculous to entirely resist. You'll scream, but not in fear. Go to Full Review

A sort of cautionary tale, the film is an extremely bleak story that spirals out of control, with an ending that packs a shocking punch. Go to Full Review

I still enjoyed the meat of the movie, the committed performances, and a few scenes of genuinely good tension. Unfortunately it ends with one of the most ho-hum, nonchalant reveals imaginable. Go to Full Review

It’s frustrating that Jay and Kayla don’t do the most obvious thing. ... But other than puzzlingly eschewing that option, Sud’s script and controlled use of focus compellingly build tension." Go to Full Review

Anonymous B Nov 9 It's a train wreck of a movie that has really unlikable characters you can't feel sympathy for. From the lying daughter to both parents who have no authority over said brat daughter. The whole "prank" aspect falls flat when you find out the friend has run away befofe and simply could've run away again. See more Heber A Nov 2 Through and through, ridiculous. The plot set up was non-sense. The attempted cover-up was pathetic, at best. What a waste of talented cast. The "twist" in the plot is whimsical. That is the stupidest turn of events that I ever heard of. I was in tears with laughter, on a good note. See more Scarlet M Aug 5 Started off great, love the premise of the story... and then the end twist happens and ... well, it all seems so stupid now. See more Pedro Henrique C @Pedro2005 Jul 15 The Lie (2020) has a very promising beginning to follow, but later when you discover that this was all a lie from two friends, the film becomes terrible to accept. It's very likely that the cast didn't like the final script. See more Big T B Jun 7 Lots of people are dogging this movie. Were there some unbelievable parts, sure, but I think over all it was worth it. I was truly surprised and I'm someone who figures out movies twists pretty fast normally. Joey King was fantastic! See more Jacob F Jan 8 The movie has a low-budget feel, and not in a charming way. The last 10 minutes are truly shocking, though. See more Read all reviews
