I still enjoyed the meat of the movie, the committed performances, and a few scenes of genuinely good tension. Unfortunately it ends with one of the most ho-hum, nonchalant reveals imaginable.

It's a train wreck of a movie that has really unlikable characters you can't feel sympathy for. From the lying daughter to both parents who have no authority over said brat daughter. The whole "prank" aspect falls flat when you find out the friend has run away befofe and simply could've run away again.

Through and through, ridiculous. The plot set up was non-sense. The attempted cover-up was pathetic, at best. What a waste of talented cast. The "twist" in the plot is whimsical. That is the stupidest turn of events that I ever heard of. I was in tears with laughter, on a good note.

The Lie (2020) has a very promising beginning to follow, but later when you discover that this was all a lie from two friends, the film becomes terrible to accept. It's very likely that the cast didn't like the final script.

Lots of people are dogging this movie. Were there some unbelievable parts, sure, but I think over all it was worth it. I was truly surprised and I'm someone who figures out movies twists pretty fast normally. Joey King was fantastic!
