Елена Б @Miss_Hound 23h I love films with strong female characters. In most Hallmark Channel movies, the story usually revolves around a romantic couple. But here the focus is different. The male roles are secondary, which makes the narrative feel refreshingly centered on women’s strength and loyalty. The film — just like Susan’s own words — is a real tear-jerker. It’s emotional without being artificial. I also loved the 1940s music; it adds authenticity and atmosphere to the story. From a language and plot perspective, the film is quite accessible and easy to follow. As often happens with movies I enjoy, I ended up googling the Vietnamese island mentioned in the story, reading more about events during World War II, and even exploring Union Station on Google Maps. I’ve already found the book and started reading it. For me, that’s always a good sign: when a film not only moves you emotionally but also inspires you to learn more. Best Hallmark See more katie d 03/11/2021 First of all, it was extremely refreshing to watch a Hallmark movie with background music at an appropriate volume that enhances the feeling of the scene rather than drowning out the dialogue! Plus, the cinematography and arrangement were successful at inspiring the right feelings at the right moments. There is charmingly natural chemistry between Jennifer Love Hewitt and Sean Faris, and the casting for Caroline (Betty White and Meghann Fahy) was absolutely perfect! My only complaint: Jennifer Love Hewitt's fake eyelashes are too big! See more Read all reviews
