Saw this one on Amazon Prime. Ugh. This is what I call a “content” movie—one of those films that exist just to pad a streaming catalog. It had a few clever scenes, a promising premise, and the usual picturesque European backdrops, but that’s about it. The chemistry between Brosnan and Thompson was hit-or-miss—when it worked, it was corny; when it didn’t, it just felt awkward. I suppose this was meant to be a rom-com for the AARP crowd, but why all the adultery and divorce? It felt so uninspired. Wouldn’t it have been more engaging if they were just a bored married couple looking for a spark—only to be thrown into a real adventure with actual stakes, unexpected comedic moments, and a rekindled romance? But, considering this is the 2020s, I guess we should be grateful for even this much of a “traditional” romantic comedy.

I liked it. Rotten tomatoes. Doesn't always have their finger on the pulse. Emma Thompson. Pierce Brosnan. Really good dialogue. It was fun. I dug it. Yeah, I am in my middle ages. And yeah, I can say that. Just to see the two of them together bantering back-and-forth on screen is totally worth watching the movie for an hour and a half. What else do you have to do?
