      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

In spite of a pair of extremely talented leads and a premise that should lend itself to entertaining action and comedy, The Love Punch manages to waste it all on a bungled attempt at classic caper cinema.

Sheri Linden Los Angeles Times This "Punch" never truly connects. May 23, 2014 Full Review Peter Rainer Christian Science Monitor Thompson is one of those rarities who shines in just about anything. Her crack timing enlivens even her worst lines. Rated: C+ May 23, 2014 Full Review Elizabeth Weitzman New York Daily News Alas, there are no sparks. There is no excitement. Hopkins' clumsy script simply bumbles its way past plot holes into predictabilities. Rated: 2/5 May 23, 2014 Full Review Debbie Lynn Elias Behind The Lens The Love Punch harkens to the screwball antics of Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn in 'The Philadelphia Story.' Dec 14, 2019 Full Review Nicholas Bell This discordant rom-com caper has all the charm of a lobotomized poodle; fluffy and without all the necessary faculties to function. Rated: 1/5 Aug 30, 2019 Full Review Daniel Green CineVue It's only the twinkle-eyed self-parody of former Bond Brosnan that makes this dire Brit-com remotely watchable. LillikoiSeed I liked it. Rotten tomatoes. Doesn't always have their finger on the pulse. Emma Thompson. Pierce Brosnan. Really good dialogue. It was fun. I dug it. Yeah, I am in my middle ages. And yeah, I can say that. Just to see the two of them together bantering back-and-forth on screen is totally worth watching the movie for an hour and a half. What else do you have to do? Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/10/23 Full Review Christopher R Won't win any awards but it was a lot of fun and cute. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/15/23 Full Review steve d Besides the actors everyone involved was clearly too lazy to put forth an effort. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Enjoyed it but there was little resolution at the end regarding the company getting money back from the crooked purchaser of the company. The actors deserved a better screen play. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/27/22 Full Review Audience Member Silly and far-fetched, but the chemistry between Thomson, Brosnan, and the people playing the second couple is hilarious! Just good for laughs! I loved how the character of Jerry kept telling stories of his past that his wife of 35 years never knew about him. If you just want a good laugh, then it's worth watching. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member I was hoping with these two fine actors for something fun. When it cam to the nuns crossing the road I had had it, every old comic standby and nothing even remotely amusing. No redeeming feature. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Read all reviews
