It'd be easy to map Gilliam on to Grisoni, a film-maker dogged by his artistic misfires and the mess left in their wake. Really, though, he's Quixote, stuck in a noble past and wilfully disconnected from a present that jostles uncomfortably close.

As someone with a chivalric spirit of his own, I always loved the story of Don Quixote. I never got to see this movie in theaters but after watching it on YouTube, I really wish I did

Given the director and the basis for the film, it should have been entertaining, but this is the most boring spin-off I've yet seen of the famous Don Quixote novel.

It stays on your mind long after the movie is over, which is the sign of well made art,I suppose. The story is unfamiliar to me and Gilliam's treatment only makes it more confusing. Jonathan Pryce is a delight to watch and I think the movie gets at the essence of the original story.
