Brian Costello Common Sense Media Incredible fantasy-drama has some cursing, mature themes. Rated: 4/5 Nov 21, 2019 Full Review Brenden Gallagher The Daily Dot As with all effective magical realism, The Man Without Gravity strikes a fine balance between fairy-tale whimsy and thematic depth. Shuzix I feel like if I had a child like that I should be shot for giving birth to such a thing? broski Why did the child fly please tell me Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Jerry W The Man Without Gravity In an early scene, the baby is born and gently floats up to the ceiling. The narrative follows him as a young boy (when he's limited in his contact with the outside world) to his adulthood (when he must address his unique ability). While there's potential for comedy or a wild success story, this is more a serious look into the character and how his ability affects his life. It develops too slowly and the story sometimes seems misguided, but the eventual outcome provides a quietly-observed personal drama. (Italian dubbed in English) Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/01/21 Full Review Audience Member It is in my top 5 worst movies of all time. It has a good opening, but then the pace is just too slow, the story is senseless, and the end is so boring! I just lost my time watching it. I wasn't expecting much, so any fairly good movie would have been ok. This one, I couldn't believe how bad was. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Short review: a touching story about someone who spends his life looking for a way to feel like he belongs The premise is that Oscar is born being weightless and his family fearing how the villagers would react if he ever got found out decided to hide his condition from the town. This leads to a sense of isolation that is prevalent throughout the film as even when he manages to make a friend he has to leave them to keep him hidden. The film progresses through his life as a young adult he leaves the mountain village where he had lived to pursue fame in an attempt to be accepted along with his powers though this would lead to fame and fortune he would become dissatisfied with the attention it brought leading him to run from it all. The next part of the story focuses on his reconnection with his friend from his childhood and finding that sense of belonging without feeling like a sideshow. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Many times I felt the same elation as watching the magic of AMELIE, DELICATESSEN or CITY OF LOST CHILDREN. Where this film fell short for me was with a couple, not all, of its subplots and secondary characters. As much as I adore the adult lead actor, at times I felt like I was watching Cirque du Soleil -- his expression was huge and theatrical. Sometimes I went with it, other times something more subtle would have been appreciated. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member I love very much this movie!
