Following her acclaimed 2024 company debut in Puccini's Madama Butterfly, soprano Asmik Grigorian returns to the Met as Tatiana, the lovestruck young heroine in this ardent operatic adaptation of Pushkin, which will be transmitted live from the Metropolitan Opera stage to cinemas worldwide on May 2. Baritone Iurii Samoilov is the urbane Onegin, who realizes his affection for her all too late. The Met's evocative production, directed by Tony Award-winner Deborah Warner, "offers a beautifully detailed reading of... Tchaikovsky's lyrical romance" (The Telegraph).

Paul 19h Terrific performance. See more D J J 20h The movie was potentially great, but the sound in the cinema hall was not optimal. It needed to be turned up a lot more for an opera, for the Met Opera orchestra and the great singers. We asked someone to turn it up, and they did, a bit, but it was still nothing like the sound it should have been. The transmission was very good. Unfortunately, you could hear the booming base from the theater next door. See more Barbara M B 1d Wonderful performance. Took my breath away.
