Management at the La Jolla theater apologized, but I think they should have acknowledged the problem before the broadcast began. It seems to me that the Met had plenty of time and expert technicians to fix this problem. If it was live-streamed why was it "received in the morning with the problem" which is what the manager told me? Only the excellence of the performance raised my score. Then a "blip" or "screen blink" occurred after intermission and then the audio worked fine through part 2. Once the audio was fixed - this was a very fun and funny opera.
