James C 2d This is a film of a live opera performance at The Metropolitan Opera. Its a masterful production of a wonderfully creative story, set during WW II but with timeless themes, of the power of the human spirit to overcome the forces of tyrannical oppression, hatred and prejudice. See more Justin 3d Act I was strong Act II was all over the place. See more Mark Kramer 3d This was an excellent ensemble performance between 3-5 lead opera singers. The entire cast was wonderful! I loved the music, the visual imagery of how the scenes looked as if they were in a comic book with how some scenes were “framed”. I also really enjoyed the plot the Amazing Adventures of Kavalier And Klay. The two soldiers kept from being with the ones they love because of fighting for freedom in World War II. And finally one of the Soldiers is reunited with the one he loves and he finds out he has a young daughter. The happy couple and daughter live happily ever after. The other soldier is killed in battle and his lover will have to live his life without his fallen friend. Thankfully, while he lost his friend he always has a lifetime of thinking about how he helped raise his friend’s daughter Sarah to 5 or 6 years old before she was reunited with her father and mother. See more Lex 3d What an emotionally moving opera. Timely, too. Dislike: why have you guys stopped showing the Saturday afternoon live versions? That really sucks for anyone who has a weekday job. See more Joseph R 3d I enjoyed this amazing and moving opera. It was worth the hour I drove to see it in Portsmouth. I am looking forward to reading the book that the opera was based on. I am very happy that the Metropolitan Opera added this opera to the Live in HD portion of the season. Bravo! See more Paula 3d I liked the story, the music and the entire production. I usually don’t like “modern” opera, but this one was terrific! See more Read all reviews
