CBowling The performers -- the singers, the dancers , the musicians -- were all excellent. But the experience was almost completely ruined because the sound we heard and the action we saw on screen were out of synch for 99% of the time of the whole event -- during both the opera and the enlightening commentary, featuring Angela Bassett, between acts. It was very disconcerting. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/30/23 Full Review Dawn Voices were incredible as well as the costumes. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/30/23 Full Review Thomas F This is a one time only for me but is something I am glad to have experienced. The the libretto was very balanced and factual. The score while complex and extremely complementary to the action on the stage, would be not compel me to listen to without the staging, I complement the lyricist and composer in presenting a complex and difficult story. The space ship and spacemen were an unnecessary muted distraction to this historical drama which slightly marred a perfect presentation. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/21/23 Full Review Jerome Although this was a performance by the MET, and we expect world class music, etc., I was disappointed. to me, this material does not lend itself to opera. The music was screechy and a cacophony. Very difficult to listen to. The filming itself was first rate, but nothing could rescue this production. I'll take Verdi et al, thank you. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/19/23 Full Review Elliot A C Terrific opera gave me a much-needed view on living in the US as a black person, The score was interestingly a mixture of classical and jazz, and the singing was excellent. The star, Will Liverman, was amazing! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/19/23 Full Review Aliess Seeing the Metropolitan Opera live in HD is like being in the front row AND having a back-stage pass to talk with and hear from the principal singers as well as others in the production. It's amazing! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/19/23 Full Review Read all reviews
