Audience Member Much better than I expected. This ending is so great that I can overlook (on purpose) all the amateurishness of Kang-sheng Lee as a director (although, of course, he's definitely a great actor and has potential to be great director too). Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member Slow as hell, as most arthouse films tend to be (but Tsai Ming-liang's films are even more unwatchable; I couldn't sit through Bu San, which was released together with this one), but utterly touching and moving, with a very spot-on commentary on today's societal order. Adults are noticeably missing from the film, as most the characters are either children or old folks who are neglected and left to fend for themselves. It's hard to believe that this was Lee Kang-sheng's directorial debut, because he evoked his characters' loneliness and panic, etc with great skill and empathy. I loved it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member This film grows on silence. Even with many long-distance shots the viewer is empathizing with the characters, feeling their distress. Wonderfully captivating. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Taiwanese movie. This is one of the first movies by Kang-sheng Lee. He depicts a contemporary Taiwanese society. He focuses on the picture, not a dialogue, which is very scarce. You will see here 3 different generations, but the middle one is missing. You can see only older people and children. Why? The answer should be obvious. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Read all reviews
