David Stratton The Australian The Mole Agent, an intriguing fly-on-the-wall documentary from Chile, takes an unusual approach to the subject of the treatment of the elderly. Rated: 3.5/5 Jun 18, 2021 Full Review Alexandra Heller-Nicholas ABC Radio (Australia) The Mole Agent is simultaneously both a very soft and very hard film to watch retrospectively in the context of the coronavirus, but it is always humane. Rated: 4/5 Jun 16, 2021 Full Review Carol Midgley Times (UK) Sounds depressing. Its big reveal was that it was often the exact opposite. Sweet, charming and poignant, it was a meditation on growing old, loneliness and making a life when confined in an institution. Rated: 35 Mar 30, 2021 Full Review Annlee Ellingson CineWomen Warmhearted and poignant, The Mole Agent doesn’t erupt with the explosive scandal sought by the client so much as reveal a festering familial failure to care for our loved ones. Call your mom, dad, grandma, or grandpa. Better yet, visit. Jul 29, 2024 Full Review Greg Carlson Vague Visages The filmmaker seeks to share with viewers a seldom-seen world filled with vibrant people desperately seeking autonomy, agency and independence. Jul 28, 2023 Full Review Erick Estrada Cinegarage At times a little uneven and lacks cohesion... but it's still a well-structured and powerful documentary. Lorena Excellent movie humankind, funny drama Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/22/21 Full Review Audience Member Creepy & voyeuristic views on the elderly in their declining years shame on these filmmakers for taking advantage of these frail, fragile people. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/14/24 Full Review isla s I liked the plot of this documentary film but at the end, I wasn't quite sure what conclusions had been reached. I thought it was nice to see how the titular mole had managed to befriend different people in the home, seeing how he got on with others and sometimes how staff behaved. It's an interesting idea and it made me think of Richard Osman's debut novel 'The Thursday Murder Club', which is about a group of care home residents that investigate crimes (this documentary doesn't focus on a murder though, it must be said). I suppose its true that society maybe hasn't made many films, or otherwise concentrated on, care home residents - what they experience and so on, in the past. Certainly not as much as the lives of younger people and so its nice to see something a bit different, I guess. I enjoyed watching this, I just wish that I felt it was more clear what had happened at the end (unless I just wasn't paying enough attention?). I would recommend this to others, yes. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Breached credibility by skeptical form under supposable "documentary" by its coherent narrative functioned by documenting tactics leaves a question mark on its identity of genre association and deliverance, but it doesn't hinder its humane subject matter of invisibly built impact unveiling the actually objective amidst the secret mission between friendship and reflected family through humor and captivating heart towards a solid conclusion polished in a timely matter. (B+) Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review greg m Absolutely loved it. Maybe a bit staged at times. But laughed hard at times, and felt challenged by the end of it. Great Documentary. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
