Michael Rechtshaffen Los Angeles Times "The Neighbor" finds a sturdy constant in its thoughtfully delineated performances and handsome production values. Jan 25, 2018 Full Review Niall Browne Movies in Focus A slow burning domestic thriller, Aaron Harvey's The Neighbour is a tense little movie with a captivating central performance from William Fichtner. ckentmay g This is an underrated film if watched through the right lens. It's an anxious, claustrophobic piece that's acted and paced more like a short story or a play than a feature film. Cheever or Updike could have written it and set it along the Hudson River or the Main Line. It works in a nameless Los Angeles suburb, too. There's not a moment of joy in the whole script. Even the juiciest, most tempting pleasures are doomed to rot: the shallow bravado of the red Corvette, the sticky loneliness of the tomato garden, and all those human relationships, ruined and drained of all pleasure long before the end finally comes, as it does, as it must. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/08/24 Full Review Chad P When I read most of the reviews about this film, it makes me sick.I think people have forgotten that cinema is just a way of telling stories. I am really fed up of Marvel stuff and films like that, because they just kill real entertainment. They bring the fake Idea that you need special effect and suspense for a film to be good. William Fichtner's performance is bluffing. His part is really hard to play. Because you need a lot of humility to bring to life such a character. It's just a story of an ordinary man, who's got a dull life and a wife who doesn't seem to care for him. ( Am I the only one that was shocked by the way she kicks him out ? ). And his life is going to be changed forever when a new young couple moves in next door. Great acting. Great filming. Great pace. But of course you need to be a bit interested by movies, people and sobriety in acting. if you look for the next transformers, this is definitely not for you. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/15/24 Full Review Shep P I really liked this. Not sure why it got such a rotten rating. This movie is a perfect example of why we have lost our way as a community. People are too afraid to reach out and help others these days. Everyine minds their own business. Mikes wife really irritated me. The way she kicked him out was so annoying. She didn’t deserve him and the son was just as vile. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/10/24 Full Review Miracle L Horrible movie. Complete waste of my time. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/23/24 Full Review Meli M This movie was so bad. Nothing happened in the entire movie until about the last 2 minutes I wish I could have the time back of my life that I wasted watching this movie. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/03/24 Full Review Tenacious It was ok!I watched it to the end…Mike seems a little slow, I thought maybe he has autism… Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 12/21/23 Full Review Read all reviews
