08/12/2013 Review of several Chaplin films coming to themoviefreakblog.com on 9/15 See more 07/06/2013 The janitor of a bank saves the day by preventing a bank robbery. Chaplin did not produce his best work during his time at Keystone, where his views on comedy filmmaking contrasted Mark Sennett's. However, it still is admirable that Chaplin is able to get an original kind of comedy from such a straight forward storyline, where characters' emotions are given time to be explored. But that keeps the film moving, even though much of it isn't very funny--that is unless you get a kick out of seeing people find endless reasons to punch each other in the face.
