Five years into his retirement, CIA veteran Peter Devereaux (Pierce Brosnan) is pulled back into service to help retrieve a Russian agent -- also his former lover -- who has incriminating evidence on Federov, a corrupt Russian leader. When a different CIA team, led by Devereaux's former protege (Luke Bracey), shows up, the mission goes south and Devereaux's ex-lover is killed. Now a rogue agent, Devereaux drags a relief worker (Olga Kurylenko) along on his mission to settle the score.

Director Roger Donaldson, reteaming with his 'Dante's Peak' star, [Pierce] Brosnan, excels at the interplay of espionage and red herrings, keeping us on our toes with plot points and twists and turns while dazzling with some well-timed action sequences.

It's a bit of a sleeper, but if you think Pierce Brosnan excels at espionage action thrillers, as he did in his James Bond role, then The November Man might satisfy you with its action sequences, even if the story lacks the vitality to make it a standout action thriller. Grading: C

Um competente thriller de espionagem. Uma trama envolvente e ações boas. Para quem curte esse tipo de gênero, pode gostar muito desse filme. Apesar de alguns arcos serem mal desenvolvidos e alguns clichês do gênero, ainda é válido. Pierce Brosnan retorna muito bem ao âmbito da espionagem, mas com uma abordagem mais realista.

It wasn't the greatest spy flick ever. But it was enjoyable enough as a fantasy conspiracy who's the real bad guy kind of thing. I probably won't watch it a second time, but it was a passible way to spend a couple hours.
