Though a clever take on the privileged, its fantasy parable is more interesting than entertaining. Go to Full Review

The Ordinaries is a splendid and clever film which gives those who cannot speak a voice to display their perspective and suggests that beyond any façade is a truth that is more powerful when it is confronted and accepted. Go to Full Review

Dominique F May 12 An ambitious film that never manages to carry the burden it places upon itself. Classism is a heavy subject, and finding a suitable allegory to unravel its nuanced complexity is certainly no easy task. The film’s dystopian class system of protagonists, supporting characters and outtakes allows for some witty commentary. However, for lack of subtlety, this idea is quickly exhausted; it only takes a few scenes for the incessant film lingo to become annoying, almost unbearable. The film presents itself as a critique of society but fails to deliver in the most disappointing way. The evil is clearly identified: prejudice, hatred, discrimination based strictly on class. Yet, no effort is made to understand its roots or its purpose. Nor does the film have the means to delve any deeper: The dialogues are dull, the acting ranges from terrible to mediocre. Equally superficial is the film’s objection: classism is bad. It certainly is. But in ways and for reasons infinitely more interesting than this film. See more Read all reviews
