Dave S Your enjoyment of The Other One: The Long, Strange Trip of Bob Weir will very much depend on your knowledge of and relationship to The Grateful Dead. For hardcore Deadheads, the documentary will be a piece of touching nostalgia with plenty of reminders of the glory of past days and the special relationship that Weir had with his bandmate Jerry Garcia. For those with a casual interest in the band, The Other One will serve as an educational tool as the film traces the early days of the Dead in San Francisco in the tumultuous ‘60s and their impact on both the culture and the music of the times. For the uninitiated, it'll be a bit of a trip and more than a little puzzling at times. Either way, it's an insightful look at the life of an enigmatic talent, but, much like a Dead concert, you're left at the end wanting more.
