John Anderson Newsday Fewer and fewer people have a first-person memory of her, unless they're old enough to have watched Ed Sullivan, but William Gazecki's heartfelt portrait all but brings her back to life. Rated: 3/4 Aug 13, 2015 Full Review Peter Rainer Christian Science Monitor I wish the film, which is mostly a standard-issue talking-heads-and-clips affair, had showcased more of her performing, but what we see still justifies her fleeting fame. Rated: B Jul 24, 2015 Full Review Odie Henderson RogerEbert.com "The Outrageous Sophie Tucker" is an outrageously dull documentary. This is not the subject's fault. Rated: 2/4 Jul 24, 2015 Full Review Dayne Linford Battleship Pretension Distant, admiring, by the numbers, and completely devoid of character. Jan 14, 2021 Full Review Ron Wilkinson Monsters and Critics You will love every minute of this walk through show biz history. Rated: 9/10 Jul 24, 2015 Full Review Phil Hall EDGE Boston Sophie Tucker was a great talent that deserves a great film. This isn't it. Rated: 2/5 Jul 24, 2015 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member not the most exciting doc as far as how its made but the subject is so cool, not to mention old and not so well remembered, that its well worth a look...if ur into show biz history, vaudeville, female performers, etc and its good for getting ready for the 50th julesworks follies live variety show tonight at Jean Cocteau Cinema! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member This is how you do a biographical documentary! A true love letter to the great Sophie Tucker, covering 60 years of her amazing career. The soundtrack is fantastic with her old recordings being remastered and cleaned up. I loved it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Who was Sophie Tucker? Beats me and I just sat through THE OUTRAGEOUS SOPHIE TUCKER. This doc is so bad, so inane, it belongs on the list of films where you ask, "Have these people ever seen a movie?" Poor Sophie deserves much better than this. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Gaspar M Really a great documentary about a legend in show business and what a little perseverance, talent and uniqueness is all about. I highly recommend this one. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/01/15 Full Review Audience Member Wonderful historical footage from the career of a giant in history of show business. Too much of the producers Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member The "critics" are nuts and Sophie would have told them so. A really really interesting documentary that was fun and entertaining about a bigger than life personality. There is no problem with the movie other than there was as much movie or video that one would want to see. But, look when she lived! She was born before, radio, movies, TV, and the internet. Get a life movie critics. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/30/15 Full Review Read all reviews
