Tim Roth.......I've come to the conclusion is very much like Marmite amongst my family and friends. I love the guy as a British actor. Thought this movie was good. The South American settings were terrific and the storyline was excellent. I enjoyed The Padre immensely.

I’m glad to see another reviewer give mention to the young Valeria Henriquez. In the actual movie credits, she’s given 3rd billing, while not even mentioned here on Flixter. I enjoyed her spunky character, struggling to find her way. We’ll later say that this is where we saw her first, in this particular movie.

Maybe the plot was predictable, but it was well acted and the young newcomer who played the girl was refreshing, and it's ending was a happy one for this time period of immigrant hate.

In a sense it's pleasant to see Nolte, Roth and Guzmán settling into their roles as if they were old slippers, but these great performers aren't completely outfitted to settle for Greatest Hits work.
