Sherri S I have no idea how it had only a score of 30%. I would not have watched it, but my husband doesn't check ratings and it was he who put it on. In a sucker for true stories and really liked this one. Especially interesting that much of the court transcripts were authentic. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/16/23 Full Review Audience Member It was a compelling enough story to entice me to watch till the end. In spite of the portrayal and production being somewhat well done, the narrative never really gains strength in its delivery. The fact that it is based on true events makes it all the more sad and tragic. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Very structurally flawed film. First act moves very quickly; almost too quickly. Final act drags on forever. The editing was awkward. Many scenes went on a beat (or several beats) too long. Strange cinematography. Overbearing score. Poor acting performances. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member RICH'S POPCORN REVIEW on : The Pardon : A good story line , but very poor performance by the actors in this movie just couldn't capture the tragic circumstances that is need to make this story work . I must give this movie a 2 . Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Sheri Linden Los Angeles Times A plodding feature that makes ample use of the legal record as well as evocative Shreveport locations while leaving the well of affecting drama untapped. Aug 6, 2015 Full Review Kam Williams Baret News Jaime King lights up the screen as an empathetic femme fatale in a compelling costume drama painstakingly-recreating events surrounding a real-life murder trial unfolding in Louisiana back in 1940. Rated: 3/4 Aug 14, 2015 Full Review Mike Scott Times-Picayune Part period drama, part courtroom drama and part sermon, it's a film that never gives itself much of a chance to hit its narrative stride.
