It would be more or less forgettable but for an intense, seductive lead performance by Morgane Polanski, letting rip with her character’s tortured dark side. Go to Full Review

If you’re already familiar with Krystyna’s story, you’re likely to find the film satisfying enough, if a little weak in places; but if you’re not, you’re really going to struggle to keep track. Go to Full Review

Writer-director James Marquand struggles to tell the story in a way that connects with the audience. It doesn't help that the obtuse dialog is delivered in accented and often whispery English. Go to Full Review

The exploits of this heroic agent seem the wrong ones chosen, such that this incredible character is wasted in her own story. It makes one wonder if this is an edited version that's missing critical information. We don’t even see Malcolm McDowell much. Go to Full Review

Graham P @Graham244 Jan 9 This film is marketed as being based on Krystyna Skarbek's life it is largely a work of fiction with only the thinnest of threads to her real life wartime accomplishments. Even the elements of the script inspired by Krystyna's story are twisted. Polanski is talented and certainly well cast, with a much more accurate screenplay could have pulled off a winner. Her acting ability sadly let down by such a poor film script. A film about this incredible ladies wartime exploits as Churchill's favourite spy remains yet to be made and long overdue. There are so many aspects of Skarbek's life that were bastardised and only diminished her real achievements. Saving the lives of Francis Cammaerts and Xan Fielding by walking into Gestapo HQ and talking the Gestapo into releasing the men the next day was sadly mis represented. For anyone whose interest was piqued by the film you will enjoy her life story told by Clare Mulley in the book "The spy who loved" much more. Malcolm McDowell is brilliant. This film has everything - shooting, spying, exploding. If you liked James Bond then you'll love The Partisan. Also - I never heard of Krystyna Skarbek. This movie made me research her. Wow. Just google.
