Despite good casting, the acting never lives up to the script, which itself is flawed by self-imposed structural limitations. Audience Member Good acting can't save a terrible script. This was unbearably tedious. The three scenes that make up the entire movie are way too long and take forever to go anywhere. The scenes are terribly contrived and unnatural. The characters do not behave in a realistic manner. The self-loathing gay story does not need to be rehashed. The gay footballer is a tired cliche. Let's move on. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member I really liked this movie but there's a scene near the end that lasts a little too long, when Jason goes on a rant about Ade being a failure...but there's some great scenes in the middle that make up for it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member This last third of this movie was out-of-character, absurd and utterly unconvincing. The movie's only saving grace is the performance of Russell Tovey. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Just awful. What is with these multiple star reviews? I tried twice with this. Nothing rings true. Absurdly unrealistic and unlikeable main character. Just another shitty gay film, but with some notoriety because it's based on a play. The two men can only exist together with their shirts off, even before their supposed affair. Just another sensationalizing of hot bods for the gay viewer. But without even any payoff. The director doesn't know the meaning of subtlety. Useless fluff. I defy anyone to find the so called "relationship." It's not there. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Probably one of the best LGBT films I've seen. Powerful, emotional, nuanced, and greatly acted. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member I really enjoyed this movie and Tovey was wonderful. He delivered a very raw performance, at any given time you could almost feel his emotion just by looking into his and understand why heï¿ 1/2 1/2 1/2(TM)s doing what heï¿ 1/2 1/2 1/2(TM)s doing. The last scene almost made me want to drive my head through a wall, you could see that they both had very real feelings for each other still but every time Ade gave Jase an opportunity to redeem himself Jase fumbled it intentionally to keep from showing any genuine emotion. It was really heartbreaking for me. Personally I think that Ade still loved Jase and visa versa. I kept thinking ï¿ 1/2 1/2 1/2Jase what are you doing? All you have to do is be a little vulnerable and he would come back to youï¿ 1/2 1/2 1/2ï¿ 1/2 1/2ï¿ 1/2? never the less Jase continued in his ï¿ 1/2 1/2 1/2machoï¿ 1/2 1/2 1/2ï¿ 1/2 1/2ï¿ 1/2? way and threw away his only real chance at happiness. Beautifully acted. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Read all reviews
