Frances H ONE OF THE BEST COMEDIES OF THE GOLDEN AGE OF HOLLYWOOD! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/14/24 Full Review David F This may be one of the finest movies ever made. All of the acting jobs were spot on, especially Kathrine Hepburn, Jimmie Stewart, and Ruth Hussey. Cary Grant was charming but not as sparkling as the rest. Writing and direction were first rate. Not one false move throughout the whole film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/25/23 Full Review Adam C This movie reveals the importance of dialogue and wit in cinema. All of the cast members have memorable lines and a distinct point of view which gives incredible depth to what is ultimately a fairly simple plot line. One of my favorites! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/26/23 Full Review taylor d Stewart gives his best performance ever! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review joe m A frothy delight that is the usual sophisticated, snappy Cukor production precisely executed by three screen legends - Hepburn, Grant and Stewart. Yet "The Philadelphia Story" is just a tad too contrived and overly long which just keeps it from achieving four star, yet well worth watching. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Socialite Tracy Lord is scheduled to marry nouveau riche George Kittredge. However, ex-husband CK Dexter Haven has a different plan. He discovers that Traxy's father, Seth Lord, is about to be exposed in a national tabloid. In exchange for not publishing the story, CK arranges for a reporter and photographer to pose as wedding guests and get an exclusive on the Lord-Kittredge affair. Along the way, one of the most classic screwball comedies is born. Can true love be found if he is a schemer and drinks heavily and she is a bossy and strong-minded? Maybe love will soften both of their edges. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/20/18 Full Review Read all reviews
