The Phoenician Scheme

What to Know

Critics Consensus

A caper made with all the intricacy of a Rube Goldberg machine, The Phoenician Scheme doesn't deviate from Wes Anderson's increasingly ornate style but delivers the formula with mannered delicacy.

Audience Says

Another meticulously staged production by Wes Anderson, The Phoenician Scheme is an A-list variety show that will particularly tickle Andersonites with its whimsical dead-pan delivery of verbal delicacies.

Wenlei Ma The Nightly (AU) The Phoenician Scheme is very agreeable and charming. Rated: 3.5/5 Jun 20, 2025 Full Review Adam Kempenaar Filmspotting Is there a future where I revisit Phoenician and find it significantly funnier and more profound (as was the case with Grand Budapest)? Yes, but unlike Korda’s redemption arc, mine isn’t imminent. Rated: 2.5/5 Jun 13, 2025 Full Review Sam Adams Slate If Asteroid City was Wes Anderson’s defense of his own methods... The Phoenician Scheme is his exploration of everything those methods aren’t sufficient to encompass. Jun 13, 2025 Full Review John Stark Mac the Movie Guy Cera should be a muse for Anderson going forward, and a staple as much as Willem Dafoe and Bill Murray. He absolutely understood the assignment. Rated: 62/100 Aug 12, 2025 Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy One wouldn’t tag Wes Anderson movies as faith-based family flicks, yet that description applies -- albeit not in the manner usually meant by such a designation. Rated: 3/4 Aug 11, 2025 Full Review Henry Wong Esquire UK Anderson’s flourishes make the film come alive both with a storybook sweetness and some look-away moments of gore. It is frequently invigorating. Aug 11, 2025 Full Review Read all reviews

Eric if you're a fan of Wes Anderson, watch this film, you won't be disappointed. was left a bit adrift after Astroid City, I liked the some of its parts. The Phoenician Scheme is definitely more of a return to form and the cast is great! Benicio del Toro is great as well as Mia Threapleton who plays his estranged daughter. go watch it If you can, it'll be a fun time to be had. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/30/25 Full Review Brian G Hilarious, clever. Will definitely watch again Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/23/25 Full Review Todd I love movies like this but this one was hard to follow. Im still not sure what it was really about. Lol Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/20/25 Full Review Theresa S I hated it. It was boring. I fell asleep. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/20/25 Full Review Juandi This was beautifully shot! The cinematography is so exciting. That was the best & most entertaining part for me. Well acted too of course but this genre of film is definitely for an acquired taste. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/17/25 Full Review William T Too, too. crazy . Didnt seem like a real movie with a real plot, just an attempt at coming up with the most nonsensical repartee.
