lovro h Imagine Primer, but less complicated. The Phoenix Project is a movie about 4 guys who are dedicated to make a machine that will bring dead organisms back to life. The entire movie is set in one house and features only those 4 characters. The movie reminded me a lot of Primer because of how the movie is directed and how very similar the progression of the movies is. Not saying that The Phoenix Project is just a rip-off, it has its own new ideas, but I'm almost not saying that it's an original idea. Anyways, moving past that, the movie is very entertaining and intriguing. Whenever the guys are testing out the machine on animals, at first bugs, but then mice and rabbits, it's very intense. You always expect something to happen, and then that something doesn't happen. The movie has a lot of moments like that where it just surprised me, actually. The ending is very bleak and grim, which was also quite unpredictable. The acting is great for a movie that didn't have a big budget and the characters are well developed. They actually feel like human beings. The direction of the movie is great, and it doesn't look cheap. All in all, a very interesting and intense movie that, although it borrows some ideas from other movies, has enough of its own originality to keep you entertained. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Not so bad but not good Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Decent concept with lackluster execution. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Acting is a little high schoolish for half the actors. Original idea for a story, but builds a little slow with a predictable delivery.
