J.C. Maçek III PopMatters The film itself still holds up very well as an informative documentary on the life of Barrett for knowledgeable fans and the completely uninitiated alike. Rated: 8/10 Jun 27, 2014 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Very interesting look at the beginnings of one of the greatest bands of all time, in particular Syd Barretts impact on things. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member If only more musicians lost there mind on acid... Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member A decent talking-heads documentary, that is more TV doc than a film. It's interesting for fans and non Floyd fans alike as we discover backstage issue about the band and it's ever changing line-up. It's not drawn out, and people involved don;t dwell on any particular issues. This makes it so it;s not boring, but there's no key sequence to build to - no key person that is left to the end to talk to. It doesn't break any new ground, and as a film and documentary it is pretty average. However, it is informative and entertaining in parts and is worth checking out. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member A nicely put together documentary about my favorite Pink Floyd member. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Good video footage, good insights into his "breakdown", and excellent interviews with all of the PF crew. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member A solid but short look at the rapid rise and slow descent of Syd Barrett. Lots of great footage, but it breezes through everything way too fast. There's nothing at all about the actual recording of Piper at the Gates of Dawn, and precious little about his solo albums. The exception is David Gilmour talking about the recording of the backwards guitar solo on "Dominoes", giving you insight into how creatively Syd was still on top of his game when he made The Madcap Laughs.
