Tech giant Pegasus offers couples the opportunity to share pregnancy on a more equal footing via detachable artificial wombs, or pods. But at what cost? Rachel and Alvy, a New York couple, are ready to take their relationship to the next level and start a family. Rachel's work gives them a chance to fast-track to the top of the Pegasus waiting list. But Alvy, a botanist and devoted purist has doubts. Nonetheless, his love for Rachel prompts him to take a leap of faith. Critics Consensus

With its roundabout script undermining solid performances from Emilia Clarke and Chiwetel Ejiofor, The Pod Generation stimulates the mind but not much else.

Tasha Robinson Polygon The material they’re [Clarke and Ejiofor] given is often slim and simple, but they lean into it with everything they can offer, and find the relatability in characters who feel more like symbols than like people. Sep 13, 2023 Full Review Robert Abele Los Angeles Times The movie’s core is as inert as an uncharged iPhone, taking most of the sting out of its cautionary satire. Aug 14, 2023 Full Review Peyton Robinson RogerEbert.com An opaque expression of an overly simple thesis. Rated: 1.5/4 Aug 11, 2023 Full Review Jeffrey M. Anderson Common Sense Media Crepe-thin and perhaps a little too long, this sci-fi movie ultimately makes the cut thanks to its strong performances and a visual scheme that subtly clashes between the organic and the inorganic. Rated: 3/5 Aug 24, 2025 Full Review Michael Cook Geek Vibes Nation It’s funny, heartwarming, and most of all – human. Rated: 8.5/10 Jul 17, 2025 Full Review David Bax Battleship Pretension With its binary gender roles and its participation in the backwards stereotype that empowering women emasculates men, it’s quite a conservative movie. Google Surprising, witty with a good sense of humour Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/22/23 Full Review Jay The premise was interesting but after about an hour into the film you're just ready for it to end. Not a bad movie but also not a great movie either. Wait for it to hit streaming. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/19/23 Full Review VITALII H Before watching this movie I bumped into one comment under the trailer that said that it looks like a "Black Mirror" episode, and that description couldn't be more accurate. The movie takes place in the 22 century that introduces us the new way of getting pregnant and having a baby. What you see on this poster is exactly how it is. Parents place their DNAs required for pregnancy in this egg that is filled with liquid that mothers are carrying in their body when they're pregnant, all thanks to the help from the specialized clinic. Since it's a movie I expected to see also how that baby is growing up outside of the egg. But all we see is just the way how the pregnancy process is going. It was interesting to watch although the movie itself is okay, it's not bad but during almost 2 hours of the movie they could've add something more to the plot. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/26/25 Full Review K M I loved this movie! Not sure why so many people have such issues with it. It’s not meant to be scientific or serious, it’s lighthearted and fun. I enjoyed it from start to finish, and would watch it again. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/21/25 Full Review Jimmson J Original and thought-provoking, watch it! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/17/25 Full Review Shelagh F It took me three attempts to get through this film. I really should have given up after the first and saved myself the time and effort. A truly awful film. Loved the concept but the writing just didn't live up to the idea. Not the fault if the actors who did their best. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 08/08/25 Full Review Read all reviews
