Justin Chang Variety Nowhere near as rigorous as the "Paranormal Activity" movies it superficially resembles, writer-director David Jung's increasingly unpleasant, rarely frightening debut feature won't possess screens for long. Aug 23, 2014 Full Review Martin Tsai Los Angeles Times Why would a possessed Michael continue to operate the camera or even turn on night vision? You simply can't capitalize on a filmmaking fad by shortchanging the audience. Aug 22, 2014 Full Review Brian Tallerico RogerEbert.com Jung's film goes through all the machinations of a found footage possession film with about as much creative spark as an apathetic teen checking off a list in a film class that he hates. Rated: 1/4 Aug 22, 2014 Full Review Abbie Bernstein Assignment X The Possession of Michael King is unlikely to terrify genre fans, but it's got a consistent sense of tension, strong atmosphere and a lead actor who really makes you fear for his character. It's not brilliant, but for what it aims to do, it's good. Rated: B Jan 11, 2019 Full Review Nguyên Lê The Script Lab If it isn't the love child of Paranormal Activity and The Last Exorcism! On paper it's interesting, but the end result is anything but. Oct 10, 2018 Full Review Pablo Villaça Cinema em Cena Se o Diabo existisse, ele seria o responsvel por este filme. Justin O A "found footage" horror film, that is better then most in it's sub-genre because of its premise, that being a filmmaker (played by Shane Johnson) making a film aiming to disprove the supernatural because he himself does not. He openly mocks demons while trying to summon multiple demons for his film in an attempt to disprove their existence, which doesn't go his way, at all. Also helping this film are strong acting performances, specifically by the lead Michael. For the directors debut film I was impressed and will look for other titles by Mr. Jung now. He did a great job of making the audio just as creepy as the visuals which was a breath of fresh air. Definitely worth a watch, don't expect it to be the best horror film you've ever seen or even of the year but it's nota waste of time like alot of horror movies can be. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/06/24 Full Review Jeffrey P Surprisingly effective "found footage" possession horror. Kept my attention throughout, but the ending could have been better. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/12/23 Full Review Sean D Exceeded my expectations!! I'm a big horror fan , but started avoiding films starting with "the possession of" . As most of them are so generic and pointless. Well I'm glad this one caught my attention and I tried it. It's fun, surprisingly creepy, and gets quite intense towards the end Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/08/23 Full Review rosie m I liked it, I am an horror fans and, thought no perfect, the movie is original, creepy and intense. I like horrors which have interesting build up instead than the classic "things were OK but then..." where much of the time is spent in characters building in order for the audience to "care about them" and give context, I found that this movie build with an original and captivating narrative, The slow but inevitable descent into the horror he unleashs creeps up as much for the character as for the audience, you know what's coming is bad and nothing can now stop it. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/06/22 Full Review E B Best found footage movie of all time IMO Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/03/22 Full Review Liam D While I do like the elements of Psychological and depression plus the main character is a filmmaker the way that the movie is found footage is brought into question Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 06/01/22 Full Review Read all reviews
