Glenn Kenny New York Times Though several distinctive animated movies have been released this year, "The Thief and the Cobbler," even in its sadly incomplete state, leaves them in the dust. Sep 22, 2016 Full Review Nell Minow Common Sense Media A must for family viewing. Rated: 5/5 Dec 29, 2010 Full Review Mike Clark USA Today An Aladdin rip-off burdened by songs so dreadful that even Academy voters will refuse to nominate them. Rated: 1.5/4 Jan 1, 2000 Full Review Eddie Harrison film-authority.com ...The Arabian theme is bent with imagination, creating dizzying worlds for the characters to step nimbly through.... Rated: 4/5 Jan 23, 2024 Full Review Cory Woodroof 615 Film The animation on Zigzag alone, and Vincent Price’s voice performance…just immaculate. The sequence where the thief makes it through the Rube Goldberg death machine is one of the great moments in animation history, too. Jun 2, 2022 Full Review Tim Brayton Alternate Ending This is simply one of the most important and best animated features ever made. Or not made. Or whatever. Noe G The thief and the cobbler is my most favorite Miramax film I give this film a 10/10 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/06/24 Full Review Liam D While the movie has pointless voice over and songs to cash in on the Disney 90s Money Train. This movie with its infamous and long history is fairly decent and at 79 mins is not wasting time Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/17/24 Full Review Teddy B The most tragic story in the history of animation. Richard William's animation is beautiful and can leave most anyone speechless in its precise, almost military attention to detail. What Miramax did to this masterpiece is frankly unforgiveable. Disgusting. The fact that this was seen as a knock-off of 'Aladdin' is astonishing as the origins of this film trace back to the 1960s. I am giving four and a half stars to the animation and Richard's ambitious and original vision, NOT the additions made when Miramax bought the film. Just watch the 'Recobbled Cut' instead. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/20/24 Full Review SKYLAR P I love the the movie 🎦 Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/28/23 Full Review Omar F A masterpiece. The film deserves a remastered edition in 4K and Digital. The Recobbled Cut should have a 4K Ultra version. Beautifully crafted and wonderful edition. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Cyrus K The movie deserved a better cast, better characters, and a better story. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/01/23 Full Review Read all reviews
